Advanced Options Disk Cleanup
The Disk Cleanup tool in Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 is known to most users. With Disk Cleanup, certain and orphaned files can be automatically discovered and deleted. The program can be found at Start, Accessories, System Tools.
If you want to reduce the number of unnecessary files to free up disk space and improve computer performance, you should use Disk Cleanup. This will include removing temporary files, empties the Recycle Bin, and removes a variety of system files and other items that you no longer need.
The functions Disk Cleanup include the following standard:
- Downloaded program files
- Temporary Internet files
- Offline websites
- Hibernation File Cleaner
- Debug Dump Files
- Trash
- Setup Log Files
- system error memory dump files
- Small system error memory dump files
- Temporary files
- thumbnails
- Windows error reporting file
- files in error report queue
But are not all options offered by the program does. There are some hidden options that are enabled with the following call first:
C: \\ Windows \\ System32 \\ Cmd.exe / C cleanmgr / sageset: 65535 & sagerun cleanmgr /: 65535
After calling this command line disk management the following hidden options is extended:
- Temporary Setup Files
- Old Chkdsk Files
- Previous Windows installation (s)
- Temporary Windows installation files
- The Windows upgrade discarded files
